UK-based smartphone producer KAZAM says it’s working with Microsoft to develop a range of devices powered by the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. It already offers feature phones and Android-based devices.

The first Windows Phone handset announced by the company is the KAZAM Thunder 340W, which will run on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor and offers dual-SIM capability. There’ll be a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixel) screen, a 5 megapixel camera and 4GB of internal storage. As with other KAZAM smartphones, the Thunder 340W is protected by the company’s free cracked screen replacement policy.

Andrew Bell, Regional Lead for Windows Phone Ecosystem Partners, said “We are delighted to be working with KAZAM, and look forward to delivering a full range of Windows Phones. KAZAM is a new mobile brand with a fresh approach that compliments the more personal experience of a Windows Phone. Whether for work or play, people across Europe will benefit from having a quality Windows Phone from KAZAM at an affordable price.”

A UK release date and anticipated price haven’t yet been revealed.

We spoke to Kazam co-founder James Atkins in a podcast last November. You can listen to the interview via the built-in audio player on our website or by downloading the MP3 file.
