In this week's edition of The Fonecast we’re making some predictions for 2011... and we’re looking back on last year's predictions as well.

Plus, as usual, there’s a look at the top industry stories from the past seven days – including Three’s unlimited data tariff, Ofcom’s proposal for non-geographic charges, Orange’s NFC plans, the new HipLogic *Spark application and the world’s first dual-core smartphone.

You can listen to the podcast on the home page of our website or, if you prefer, you can find us on the Mobile News and IMPDA sites. In addition, you can follow @thefonecast on Twitter and you can ‘like’ us on Facebook.

There wasn’t time to include all of our chat about HipLogic’s new *Spark app in the regular show, so we’ll be broadcasting the full interview in a special podcast later this week. To receive every podcast automatically, simply subscribe to the RSS feed or download us via iTunes.

Yet it wasn’t an entirely newsless week.

ExclusivePrinted interactive Bluetooth-enabled books and posters are just around the corner

Mark Bridge writes:

Imagine books that could automatically link with your tablet as you touched the pages. Or posters that reacted to your fingertips and displayed the results on your smartphone. It seems this kind of Bluetooth-enabled interactivity is just around the corner, thanks to tiny low-power processors and a patented printing process that doesn’t require specialised equipment.

ExclusiveBanking on good customer service?

The future of customer service is to bridge the gap between the smart consumer with the smartphone and the bank holding his or her financial assets. Even though mobile applications are becoming increasingly powerful customer touch points, many banks are failing to leverage them in order to engage with consumers.

Mandip Shergill, Account Executive at Genesys, looks at how banks can maintain and strengthen the customer relationship in the mobile channel.
