Mark Bridge writes:

Nottingham-based Esendex Limited has been supporting businesses with messaging services for over ten years. Yet with SMS messaging celebrating its 20th birthday in the UK this year, it would be easy to think the no-nonsense short message is now being threatened by social networking, mobile email and picture messages.

That’s not the case, explained Geoff Love, Chief Commercial Officer of Esendex.

Mark Bridge writes:

I still have my Nokia 2110. When the world is taken over by cockroaches and the MRSA bug, my Nokia 2110 will still be in working order. The MRSA-infected cockroaches will probably use it to build their own cellular network.

I loved the Nokia Communicator. It was a real game-changer, a device that paved the way for today’s smartphones.

Instead of producing a regular mobile industry news podcast this week, we're asking for a favour.

You see, we don't really know much about our listeners - and that doesn't make it easy for us to attract the sponsorship that keeps our programmes free for you to download.

Every week we produce our podcast of news and opinion for the UK mobile phone industry - and every week we give it away on our own web site, on iTunes and through our online partners, including Mobile News and the IMPDA.

But by giving away each programme, we're not able to tell potential advertisers and sponsors very much about our audience.

So this week we'd like you to answer a handful of simple questions. There's nothing tricky and we won't ask for any personal details - all we want is some general information.

You can take the survey by clicking here. There are just nine questions, so we reckon it'll only take a couple of minutes.

Please take our survey - and help ensure the future of The Fonecast.

[UPDATE: TheFonecast.com survey is now closed]
