Independent mobile ad network InMobi has published its analysis of trends from the past year. The InMobi Mobile Market 2011 Review shows a 251% increase in mobile impressions on the InMobi network worldwide. Smartphone impressions were up 488% - boosted by the adoption of in-app advertising - with tablet impressions increasing 771% year-on-year.

North America was InMobi’s fastest growing region, demonstrating 366% overall growth in mobile impressions and a 625% increase in smartphone impressions.

James Lamberti, VP of Global Research & Marketing at InMobi, said “Mobile technologies have empowered the development of the media and advertising market and pushed consumer acceptance of media consumption through emerging channels. Advertisers are now on board with this trend and we expect to see strong innovation in this space as consumers spend more time on mobile devices and less on PCs.”

Android ended the year as the most-seen mobile operating system on the InMobi network, with a 21% share of impressions; Apple had a 17% impression share.
