We’re delighted to be a media partner to Apps World 2014. Last year’s event attracted around 8,000 people across two days, with keynote speakers including Apple co-founder Steve ‘Woz’ Wozniak and Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins.

This year Apps World has outgrown its previous home and is moving to ExCeL London, alongside the River Thames. There’ll be over 350 exhibitors and even more workshops than before, with a number of free conference sessions alongside premium options.

There’ll also be an exclusive party for developers and other fans of mobile technology - Apps World Unplugged - on the evening of the 12th November.

Confirmed speakers include Google Glass pioneer Babak Parviz, Gerard Grech of Tech City and Jason Bradbury from TV’s The Gadget Show.

Apps World runs on 12th and 13th November 2014.

We recorded two podcasts at Apps World last year. Tim Green spoke to us about mobile money and mobile payments, while Bruce Lawson explained some of the mysteries of HTML5. Both shows were produced as part of the #needtoknowmobile series in partnership with The Mobile Academy, which is hosted by Mobile Monday London and UCL.

This week’s big news isn’t entirely mobile-related – but it is entirely worth mentioning. First we had Amazon snapping up the part of LOVEFiLM they didn’t already own. (Allow me to start the speculation about a video-streaming Kindle). And then Google CEO Eric Schmidt said he was leaving.

It's been a funny old week. With the International CES behind us and Mobile World Congress less than a month away, you’d be forgiven for thinking there wouldn’t be much big news until the world’s mobile mavens start arriving in Barcelona.
