Flipboard, which originally launched as a mobile application that let users turn their social media feeds and favourite websites into a personal digital magazine, is now helping people share those magazines.

The updated iPhone and iPad app enables readers to save news stories, videos and photos in a personal magazine that can then be shared with other people. There’s also a new search feature available.

In a blog post, Flipboard CEO Mike McCue said “Our readers are already creating some amazing magazines which you can see in your Content Guide. Just tap the red ribbon and look under ‘By Our Readers’ for featured magazines about things like interior decorating, travel, exotic cars and world-changing ideas. You can also now search for magazines, articles, photos and videos about topics you’re interested in, flip through the results, and even subscribe to your search to keep it as an active tile on your Flipboard.”

Mark Bridge writes:

Last week the Wall Street Journal published a feature that explained how techies in New York wanted the city’s 212 area code as part of their mobile phone numbers. This may seem strange from a UK perspective until you realise that American mobile phone numbers don’t have dedicated mobile ‘dialling codes’. Instead, they’re all prefixed with a local area code and cost the same to call as those landline numbers they mimic.

You need to cut down or get a bigger Bolt On to keep using the internet.” I thought this was strange as I’ve an unlimited data bolt on applied to my O2 UK contract so I decided to telephone O2 customer services to find out a little bit more. Here’s what happened.
