Come on, Steve Jobs – why don't you attack a few more mobile companies?

Mark Zuckerberg's girlfriend breaks up with him acrimoniously. So off he goes and creates Facebook.

Yes, there's nothing like an insult to fire up the creativity. Well, that's certainly what the plot of The Social Network would like you to think.

And, you know, it's got a point. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that sticking two fingers up at the opposition seems to be the new way of doing business.

Apple's CEO knocks RIM in its latest earning report. So RIM's CEO responds by knocking Apple.

Tech website Gizmodo knocks the Nokia N8. So Nokia heads for rival Engadget and gives them an exclusive.

Even Windows Phone 7 is mocking the mobile-obsessiveness of some smartphone users. Not laughing at Apple fans, surely?

Now, I realise there's the risk of these responses just being hot air. But when people are riled into doing some serious innovating, that's something to look forward to. After all, it's one of the reasons the USA and Russia raced into space.

So come on, Steve Jobs – you've knocked Adobe, you've knocked Google, you've knocked RIM… is that all you've got?  Keep up those attacks!
