Bullitt Mobile, the company behind the Cat Phones brand, has announced a new rugged 4G smartphone. The Cat S50 runs Android v4.4 on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, includes an 8 megapixel camera and has a 4.7-inch screen protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

It’s certified waterproof dustproof to IP67 and Mil Spec 810G, making it well-suited to outdoor use in situations where it might be dropped. There’s support for the Google Play app store and access to the Cat Phones App Store of over a thousand hand-picked apps.

Oliver Schulte, CEO of Cat Phones, said “Choosing a mobile phone suitable for outdoor pursuits has often meant making a compromise on either the functionality or the level of protection. Not so with the S50, which offers all of the features of a high-end smartphone with the level of protection and durability that you’d expect from the Cat brand. An active or outdoor lifestyle requires phones to be taken into environments that they’re not designed for. At Cat Phones we recognised the need for a mobile that was built to be a true companion to these activities and environments rather than being hidden away in a bag or wrapped up in a rucksack. The S50 is a phone that can always be at the centre of the action.”

Mark Bridge writes:

The most memorable moments in life often go unrecorded. You don't have your camera in your hands. Your finger is still hovering over the 'pause' button on your audio recorder. Or you were simply too busy experiencing whatever was happening. It's all about the one that got away.

That's where Kapture can help.
