Three UK gives mobile broadband access to the 'Rural Broadband Working Group'

Three UK and the Countryside Alliance have announced a partnership that'll see them working with local MPs and campaign groups to help get people online in rural areas where broadband is poor or non-existent.

Ofcom mobile broadband research shows average UK download speed of 1.5Mbps

Ofcom has published its first-ever research into the performance of mobile broadband across the UK.

It's looked at dongles and datacards rather than smartphones, discovering that 17% of UK households use mobile broadband. Around 7% of households use mobile broadband as their only internet access; a figure that's more than doubled since 2009.

Everything Everywhere and BT to trial 4G LTE broadband in Cornwall this year

Everything Everywhere and BT Wholesale are working together to test 4G Long Term Evolution mobile broadband as an alternative to fixed-line broadband in rural areas.

A field trial will start from September, involving up to 100 mobile and 100 fixed-line customers living around the St Newlyn East area of Newquay. This is expected to be the UK’s first customer trial of 4G LTE high-speed broadband.

When I look closer, I can see it's a printed copy of the Wall Street Journal's mobile website. That's a lot of scrolling to do... and a pretty unfriendly user experience for anyone reading the news online. Why does it work so badly?
