The securelist.com blog run by anti-virus specialists Kaspersky Lab has discovered a malicious Android app that targeted the user’s computer as well as their phone.
Consumers who downloaded an app called ‘Superclean’ or ‘DroidCleaner’ risked infecting their desktop computer with malware. These apps installed files on the smartphone’s memory card that could - depending on the user’s security settings - have run automatically when the phone was connected to a PC.
Any infected PC would have recorded and uploaded an audio file. The malware also gave the virus author access to the contact list and SMS information on the phone.
