Vodafone moves its R&D facility from Silicon Valley to London

Less than three years after opening its Research & Development centre in California, Vodafone Group says it’s moving the facility - called Vodafone xone - to London.

Vodafone’s existing London R&D facility will be expanded, becoming responsible for developing new technologies to complement existing products and services.

Pratapa Bernard has been appointed as the new head of Vodafone xone, succeeding Fay Arjomandi who has decided to leave the company.

Stefano Parisse, Vodafone’s consumer services director, said “Establishing a new hub for Vodafone xone in London will bring our product development team closer to the customers it serves. It will allow us to draw on a vast pool of technology talent in the UK and Europe and simplify our development process, enabling us to get the very latest technology into the hands of our customers as quickly as possible.”

The Vodafone Ventures capital investment business will continue to be based in California, while Vodafone Global Enterprise will also maintain a presence in Silicon Valley.
