Quarterly results for Google, Intel and Microsoft

Google, Intel and Microsoft have all reported financial results for the last three months of 2011.

Intel, whose report also marked the end of its financial year, posted quarterly revenue of $13.9 billion (up 21% year-on-year) and net income of $3.4 billion (up 6% year-on-year). Its annual figures showed revenue up 24% to $54 billion and net income up 19% to $13.7 billion.

Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO, said “2011 was an exceptional year for Intel. With outstanding execution the company performed superbly, growing revenue by more than $10 billion and eclipsing all annual revenue and earnings records. With a tremendous product and technology pipeline for 2012, we’re excited about the global growth opportunities presented by Ultrabook systems, the data center, security and the introduction of Intel-powered smartphones and tablets.”

Google also reported quarterly and annual figures. Quarterly revenue was $10.6 billion, up 25% year-on-year, with net income up 6% to $2.7 billion. Annual revenue was up 29% to $37.9 billion, with net income up 14% to $9.7 billion.

Larry Page, CEO of Google, said “Google had a really strong quarter ending a great year. Full year revenue was up 29%, and our quarterly revenue blew past the $10 billion mark for the first time. I am super excited about the growth of Android, Gmail, and Google+, which now has 90 million users globally – well over double what I announced just three months ago. By building a meaningful relationship with our users through Google+ we will create amazing experiences across our services. I’m very excited about what we can do in 2012 – there are tremendous opportunities to help users and grow our business.”

Microsoft’s figures represent the second quarter of its financial year. It announced quarterly revenue of $20.9 billion, up 5% year-on-year, with net income dropping fractionally to $6.62 billion.

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, said “We delivered solid financial results, even as we prepare for a launch year that will accelerate many of our key products and services. Coming out of the Consumer Electronics Show, we’re seeing very positive reviews for our new phones and PCs, and a strong response to our new Metro style design that will unify consumer experiences across our phones, PCs, tablets, and television in 2012.”
