HTC has announced a new flagship phone using its HTC One brand rather than the rumoured M7 codename. The new HTC One runs Android on a Qualcomm 1.7GHz quad-core processor and has an aluminium body containing a 4.7-inch HD screen.
There’s a strong audiovisual focus to the new HTC One, with the company introducing three new features: HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound.
HTC BlinkFeed is a live stream that combines social network updates with information from more than 1,400 media sources, while HTC Zoe combines photos and short HD video clips. HTC BoomSound is the company’s way of describing the front-facing stereo speakers and Beats Audio integration on the handset.
Although the camera sensor can only handle around 4 megapixels, it’s partnered with an f2.0 aperture lens and is much larger than other smartphone camera sensors. This ‘UltraPixel’ camera also has optical image stabilisation to further improve the HTC One’s low-light performance.
The new HTC One will go on sale in more than 80 regions and countries - including the UK - from March.
