Virgin Mobile co-founder and ex-EE CEO Tom Alexander returns to mobile with Viacloud

Tom Alexander, who co-founded Virgin Mobile in 1999 and was CEO at Everything Everywhere until 2011, has returned to the mobile industry as non-executive chairman of Viacloud UK.

He’ll be working with a recently-appointed management team that includes CEO Emanuele Angelidis, Chief Commercial Officer Tim Stone, Chief Technology Officer Jon Kandiah and Chief Financial Officer Richard Schaefer.

Viacloud provides Mobile Virtual Network Enabler and Mobile Virtual Network Aggregator services. Last year it formed a partnership with EE through its Atmovia MVNA.

Tom Alexander said “I’ve been particularly interested in Viacloud as the company is now very well placed to help enable new MVNO’s to address the mobile market. MVNO’s have been extremely important in developing the consumer market over the past few years and this will continue through to the next phase, especially in the growth of mobile data and 4G. Consumer brands, content players and segmented routes to market are all key. I have been particularly impressed by Viacloud’s backers’ commitment to investment in quality of technical infrastructure and capability. They have brought together a strong, experienced team. I’m delighted and excited to join a great team as Non Executive Chairman.”
