Energizer mobile chargers expected from Avenir Telecom next month

Telecoms distributor Avenir Telecom and Energizer, one of the world's largest battery manufacturers, have announced the launch of their exclusive range of chargers for the mobile market. The partnership was revealed in February, with the charger range previewed at Mobile World Congress. The Energizer range will be available from major retailers and on Amazon from early November.

There'll be universal and brand-specific chargers for mobile phones, GPS, MP3, laptops and game consoles. All are Energy Star Level 5 and EUP compliant, which means they save 30% of the power consumed by standard chargers. They're also equipped with an automatic cut-off when a device is fully charged.

A 3-in-1 Universal Charger allows 2 devices to be simultaneously charged via in-car charging, a USB connection or a mains plug socket. It offers 10 connectors to charge most mobile devices on the market and will be available from £24.99.

Andy Tow, MD of Avenir Telecom, said "Avenir Telecom is extremely excited to bring these powerful products to the marketplace, which are set to offer the customer an easier choice and a more economical way to keep their devices charged. This is just the beginning of our long-term partnership with Energizer, where will continue to design, manufacture and distribute innovative products that meet the demands of our customers."

Predictions for 2016: Network Function Virtualisation, 4G throttling and video calling

Mark Windle, head of marketing at OpenCloud, predicts that this year’s reduction in the number of traditional telecoms operators in some countries will provide an opportunity for other operators to innovate and capture market share in 2016.

He says next year will be a year of rapid change for telecoms… whether it’s MVNO disruption, competitive tariff pricing or simply defence from the ‘dark art’ of hacking.

Kapture review: the audio-recording wristband

A 'recording watch' that links to your smartphone

Mark Bridge writes:

The most memorable moments in life often go unrecorded. You don't have your camera in your hands. Your finger is still hovering over the 'pause' button on your audio recorder. Or you were simply too busy experiencing whatever was happening. It's all about the one that got away.

That's where Kapture can help.

Device detection and responsive design explained

Mark Bridge writes:

James Rosewell shows me a colourful roll of paper that's the width of an iPhone but well over three metres long. When I look closer, I can see it's a printed copy of the Wall Street Journal's mobile website. That's a lot of scrolling to do... and a pretty unfriendly user experience for anyone reading the news online. Why does it work so badly?
