Nokia has announced a new Windows 8 smartphone that’ll launch this month in the USA and will start arriving in Europe later this quarter. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a 41 megapixel sensor that enables it to take a 38 megapixel image. In addition, it creates a separate 5 megapixel image at the same time.
There are six physical lenses on the phone, along with optical image stabilisation and the Nokia Pro Camera app. Sound recording is also available in high quality, thanks to stereo microphones and Nokia’s ‘Rich Recording’ feature.
Other specifications include a 4.5-inch display and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. An optional camera grip accessory will be available as well.
Stephen Elop, Nokia’s President and CEO, said “We want to take people on a journey from capturing pictures to recording and sharing their lives. The Nokia Lumia 1020 will bring new meaning to pictures and continues to strengthen Nokia’s leadership in imaging.”
