Nokia Siemens Networks has completed its acquisition of wireless network assets from Motorola Solutions, paying $975 million (about £584 million) in cash. Around 6,900 employees will be joining Nokia Siemens Networks.
Responsibility for supporting customers of Motorola Solutions’ GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, WiMAX and LTE products and services - a total of 50 operator customers in 52 countries - has been transferred to Nokia Siemens Networks.
This deal makes Nokia Siemens Networks the third-largest wireless infrastructure vendor in the United States based on revenue.
Rajeev Suri, chief executive officer of Nokia Siemens Networks, said “The people, customers and technology we’ve acquired greatly complement our existing business by taking us into new markets and broadening our market share. Our combined knowledge and experience will provide our newly expanded customer base with the means to grow by providing greater value to their subscribers.”
