We heard the rumours yesterday – and now it’s official. Three UK is removing the 1GB data allowance from ‘The One Plan’ – its flagship tariff – and is allowing unlimited use. The company is describing the deal as “All-you-can-eat Data”.
Marc Allera, Three UK’s Sales and Marketing Director, said in a blog post, “Unlike other data plans, there are no restrictions and no crafty ‘fair usage’ policies containing hidden data caps. We’re leaving behind the ‘old mobile’ world of limits and allowances in favour of a new world that gives you the freedom to use your smartphone to do everything it was designed for without the worry of cost. Our new world has no data restrictions, you can use as much as you want and we’ll never charge you a penny more.”
The tariff also allows ‘tethering’; using a laptop to connect via a smartphone. It’s available for new customers, upgrading customers, and customers that are part of the way through their contracts. The deal is only for customers on The One Plan and excludes Mobile Broadband, Pay As You Go and other Pay Monthly plans.
