It’s not just Ford talking about in-car communication at Mobile World Congress. Samsung Electronics has announced a partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation that’ll help Samsung’s smartphones connect with Toyota’s in-vehicle entertainment systems.
The project is called Samsung Car Mode Application and it’ll use smartphone-based voice controls for navigation, location-based services and other functions. A commercial product is expected later this year.
Simon Stanford, MD of Samsung’s UK & Ireland Telecommunications & Networks Division, said “With a passion for innovation and a commitment to drive the advancement of the mobile and vehicle industry, Samsung looks forward to the shared success of this collaboration. Together, Samsung and Toyota are opening the door to the Smarter Car Era.”
