Global Mobile Awards at Mobile World Congress 2014

This year’s Global Mobile Awards have been revealed at Mobile World Congress today.

These are the 19th annual Global Mobile Awards and were presented by actor and comedian James Corden. A podcast of his introduction to the awards is available on our web site.

John Hoffman, CEO of the GSMA, said “The Global Mobile Awards once again showcase the outstanding level of innovation and creative products and services being developed across a diverse and growing industry. With more than 680 high calibre entries this year, the competition was stronger than ever and it is a significant achievement to have been honoured today. The GSMA would like to warmly congratulate all Global Mobile Awards winners and recognise all those who took part for continuing to drive mobile communications into the future.”

HTC was awarded ‘best smartphone’ for the HTC One, Apple won ‘best mobile tablet’ for the iPad Air, while LG received the award for ‘most innovative device manufacturer of the year’.

I still have my Nokia 2110. When the world is taken over by cockroaches and the MRSA bug, my Nokia 2110 will still be in working order. The MRSA-infected cockroaches will probably use it to build their own cellular network.

I loved the Nokia Communicator. It was a real game-changer, a device that paved the way for today’s smartphones.
