Mobile payment provider Bango says its integration with Facebook is now live, enabling the social network to bill customers via their mobile networks in the UK, Germany and the USA. The partnership was first announced in February and will be expanded to work in other countries later this year.
Bango’s involvement means that Facebook users can buy digital content without needing to register credit card details or use premium SMS messages. Instead, charges can be added to a user’s mobile phone bill or deducted from their pre-paid account credit.
Similar services are offered via Bango by Blackberry App World, the Opera Mobile Store and Google Play. It’s also announced an agreement to provide payment services to Amazon.
Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango, said “We’re delighted to bring Bango's payment experience to Facebook. As the mobile web experience has matured and improved, consumers are increasingly keen to purchase digital goods on mobile devices. By ensuring a frictionless payment experience, Bango technology is unlocking the business potential of the mobile web.”
