Blyk appointed to manage media sales for 'Orange Shots' UK mobile advertising service

OrangeMobile messaging media company (and former UK MVNO) Blyk has been appointed to manage all elements of Orange UK’s media sales program.

The two companies started working together on Blyk’s MVNO in 2007. More recently, Blyk has been working with Orange on its media and advertising messaging propositions. Blyk is now building a media sales function dedicated to the ‘Orange Shots’ mobile advertising service in the UK.

Orange Shots, which was announced in January last year, enables brands to engage and interact with targeted Orange customers via text and multimedia messaging.

Alex Franks, Country Manager for Blyk UK, said “I am delighted that Orange has invited us to bring our media experience in mobile advertising into the already strong partnership that has grown between our two organizations over the last four years. We believe that a commercial approach to the advertising market that is solely focused on messaging will reap significant ROI for advertisers.”

BBC Apprentice shows us what's wrong with Mobile Apps

James Rosewell writes:

Tonight's BBC Apprentice was about building a Mobile Application. Two teams of supposedly bright entrepreneurial talent were tasked with creating a Mobile App in 2 days. This week at The Fonecast: 7th May 2011

Mark Bridge writes:

It's time for another round-up of the week's mobile industry news.

Two of the recurring themes we've encountered in the last few months are legal action and partnerships. This week's legal story involves a conflict between Huawei and ZTE, while the partnership news sees RIM working with Microsoft. Yes, you may well raise your eyebrows. It seems Nokia-loving Microsoft is also a friend of the BlackBerry.
