The Nielsen Company has revealed recent research about mobile applications in the USA. Its survey of mobile app downloaders - people who’ve downloaded an app in the past 30 days - shows that 74% of these people either have an Android device or an Apple iPhone.
Overall, 36% of US mobile consumers have smartphones. The majority have Apple and Google Android devices... and these device owners have more apps than people with other types of smartphone. You’ll find an average of 48 apps on iPhones and 35 apps on Android phones, compared with 15 apps on the average BlackBerry device.
In a separate report, the company reports that 13% of app downloaders have had their spouse or partner add apps to their phone, while 8% said their children had installed apps on their phone. These parents reported that 30% of their apps had been installed by their children.
