Motorola has invested in a user interface company with the intriguing name of Sensitive Object, which was created in October 2003 as a spin-off from the French Science National Research Centre (CNRS).

Sensitive Object has created technology that can turn any product into a touch-sensitive device by analysing the sound waves created when it's touched, removing the need for a conventional wired keypad or display. This means that some future Motorola mobile phones could have acoustic touchscreens in the future instead of resistive or capacitive displays. [Press release]
