Mobile device management company Mformation has conduced research in the UK and the US that shows how precious we consider the information stored on our mobile phones. Almost everyone has some kind of personal information on their handset: 94% of users store telephone numbers while 65% also store addresses and other contact information. In addition, 83% have photos, 51% have videos, 48% have calendar information and 40% have music.
As a result, 82% of people fear that a lost or stolen phone would result in their information being used fraudulently, with 72% saying the information would be difficult to replace. 91% of people said they’d be “devastated” if they lost their mobile phones, with 40% saying that losing a mobile phone would be worse than losing their wallet.
