Europe moves closer to eCall in-car emergency phone system

The UK still hasn’t signed the EU's Memorandum of Understanding to implement eCall across Europe… but it looks as though we’re moving closer. Today the GSM Association signed the MoU, emphasising the commitment of the mobile phone industry to the scheme. If implemented, eCall would automatically dial the emergency services after a car accident and would notify them of the car’s location.
