No UK launch for HTC First 'Facebook phone' at the moment

The HTC First smartphone, which is embedded with the Facebook Home application, looks unlikely to be seen in the UK. There are also reports that sales of the device in the USA are being discontinued by the AT&T network.

EE had arranged an exclusive UK launch for the Android-powered HTC First, promising to offer the phone this summer. However, it’s now claimed that pre-orders have been cancelled and the phone will “never go on sale in the UK”.

A statement from EE to tech news site Engadget said “Facebook has decided to focus on adding new customization features to Facebook Home over the coming months. While they are working to make a better Facebook Home experience, they have recommended holding off launching the HTC First in the UK.”
