Sales and operating revenue was up 13% to ¥1,712.7 billion (£11.3 billion), with favourable exchange rates, financial services revenue and smartphone sales being credited for the improvement.
At the Mobile Products & Communications business segment, sales were up 36% and smartphone shipments were up by 30% to 9.6 million units during April, May and June. The company aims to sell 42 million smartphones in its current financial year, up from last year’s total of 33 million.
