Preparations already well underway for Mobile World Congress 2014

The GSMA has been busy planning next year’s Mobile World Congress, which will be held from 24th until 27th February 2014 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona. It’ll have a theme of ‘Creating What’s Next’ and will highlight mobile innovations and advances in mobile.

There’ll be a new series of conferences and exhibits entitled ‘mPowered Industries’ that’ll look at mobile technology within the health, marketing, advertising, media and travel sectors. This will be held at the previous MWC venue of Fira Montjuïc.

In addition, the Global Mobile Awards 2014 are now open for entry. Entries close on 29th November this year with the winners announced at Mobile World Congress on 25th February 2014.

A total of 38 awards will be presented, with 2014 seeing the smartphone prize split into a ‘high-end smartphone’ and ‘sub-$150 smartphone’ category. Other new awards include a ‘Social and Economic Development’ category and a ‘Best Entertainment App’.
