Spanish smartphone manufacturer Geeksphone, which recently announced plans to produce a security-focussed smartphone, says it’ll start selling a dual-boot device next week.

The Geeksphone Revolution will go on sale from 20th February and is capable of running either Google’s Android OS or the Boot2Gecko Mozilla operating system. Mozilla’s Firefox OS is built on the Boot2Gecko project.

This new handset will use the dual-core Intel Atom 1.6GHz Z2560 microprocessor, it’ll have a 4.7-inch screen, 4GB of expandable memory and an 8 megapixel camera plus a 2000mAh battery. Retail pricing will be €239+VAT (around £235 incl. VAT), although there’ll be a discounted online price of €222+VAT for a limited period.

Rodrigo Silva-Ramos, Geeksphone´s co-founder, said “Our new Geeksphone ‘Revolution’ device is the result of a Spanish company’s commitment to innovation. We want to offer our users the possibility to choose between different operating systems in a single device. We also want to give them one of the most advanced microprocessors on the market.”
