Global sales still increasing
Figures from telecom analysts CCS Insight show that fewer than 14 million tablets will be sold in the UK this year.
That’s a drop of 3 million devices from last year’s total.
New research published by price comparison service uSwitch.com shows that 27% of UK children have their own tablet device by the time they’re 8 years old. That’s almost 3.5 million children.
In fact, 10.7% of children were using touch-screen devices before they were 2 years old.
Google says it’s testing a ‘smart’ contact lens that’s designed to help people with diabetes monitor their glucose levels.
The lens, which is being developed by Brian Otis and Babak Parviz within the next-generation Google X project team, contains a wireless chip and glucose sensor.
