Microsoft joins the Power Matters Alliance wireless charging group

The Power Matters Alliance (PMA) has announced that Microsoft Corporation is its newest member.

Originally formed in 2012, PMA is an organisation working towards global interoperability for wireless charging. Board members currently include AT&T, Duracell, Starbucks and the US Government’s Energy Star programme.

Apple says 43 million iPhones and 16 million iPads were sold in the last quarter

Apple has released quarterly financial results for the three-month period until 29th March 2014.

43.7 million Apple iPhone smartphones were sold, over 16.3 million Apple iPads, 4.1 million Mac computers and almost 2.8 million iPods.

CTIA chooses former FCC commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker as its new CEO

Wireless communications trade organisation CTIA - The Wireless Association has named Meredith Attwell Baker as its new CEO.

She’ll replace Steve Largent, who is retiring after more than a decade in the role.

Mobile tickets coming to London river buses

Mobile ticketing is coming to river buses in London, enabling customers to pay for their trip via any compatible smartphone.

Thames Clippers, which runs boat services that serve around three million commuters and visitors every year, has signed a five-year agreement with London-based Masabi.
