The answer appears to be very clear. According to 60% of respondents, 'battery life' is the major issue for mobile manufacturers.

Solar technology company Intivation, which is based in Amsterdam, has revealed the Umeox Apollo mobile phone this week.
It's an Android smartphone with an embedded solar charger offering extended battery life. The phone will be produced by Chinese manufacturer Umeox.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the body responsible for international electro-technology standards, has published its universal phone charger standard for data-enabled mobile telephones.
It covers all aspects of the charger, connector and plug, as well as safety, interoperability and environmental considerations.

Qualcomm and Duracell have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to explore the possibility of working together. Their aim is to develop an industry alliance for wireless power solutions in the consumer electronics industry. Qualcomm has also signed a similar non-binding LOI with charging mat company Powermat.

Last year the European Commission encouraged mobile manufacturers to agree on a universal charger for mobile phones. The first compatible devices are now expected in Europe early next year.
