LG Electronics says sales of its LTE smartphones have reached three million units worldwide.
The phones, which are currently available in 10 countries, will be available in 20 countries by the end of the year.

The latest research from Strategy Analytics suggests a nine-fold increase in 4G LTE connections this year, with 90 million connections worldwide by the end of 2012.
This new mobile technology is expected to exceed one billion connections by early 2017, just over seven years since it was first introduced. It’s a faster growth rate than the company predicted just a couple of months ago.

Everything Everywhere has launched the UK’s first live 4G mobile broadband trial in the north of England.
It’s centred on the village of Threlkeld in Cumbria and will involve up to 50 local residents.

Research carried out by Capital Economics and commissioned by Everything Everywhere shows that the faster download speeds delivered by 4G LTE mobile broadband could add 0.5% to the UK’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by the end of the decade - the equivalent of £75 billion.
In addition, 4G in the UK could also create or safeguard 125,000 UK jobs and is expected to drive £5.5 billion of private investment into the UK economy by 2015.

UK Broadband has announced that Swindon will be the UK’s first local authority to benefit from 4G LTE technology across the borough.
The first commercial 4G broadband service in the UK was launched by UK Broadband a few weeks ago.
