EE introduces low-cost 4G tariffs and a sub-£100 4G smartphone

EE has announced a series of lower-cost 4G tariffs and what it’s calling the “UK’s lowest priced 4G smartphone”.

UK customers can now pay from £13.99 per month for a deal that includes a free smartphone - either the new EE Kestrel or the Alcatel Idol S - with 500 minutes of calls, unlimited text messages and 500MB of mobile data every month.

New CEO for Mozilla

Mozilla, the organisation behind the Firefox web browser and Firefox mobile OS, has announced that co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer Brendan Eich has been appointed to the role of CEO.

Jay Sullivan, who’d been acting CEO during the search for a full-time leader, will remain with the company during the transition and will then leave to pursue new opportunities.

iZettle mobile payment devices now on sale across the UK in Maplin stores

Mobile payment provider iZettle has announced that its Chip & PIN readers are now available to buy from Maplin electronics stores across the UK.

The card reader, which allows users to accept debit or credit card payments via their smartphones or tablets, is being sold for £59.99.

Facebook moves into virtual reality with $2 billion Oculus VR deal

Facebook has agreed to acquire virtual reality company Oculus VR in a deal worth approximately $2 billion (£1.2 billion).

Oculus VR has become well-known for its ‘immersive’ virtual reality technology, having received more than 75,000 development kit orders for its Oculus Rift 3D virtual reality headset.
