Samsung Electronics has announced the Galaxy Tab S, which is described as the company’s thinnest and lightest tablet so far.
There’ll be two screen sizes - 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch versions - and a choice of WiFi-only or WiFi + 4G connectivity. The tablets are just 6.6mm deep and weigh from 294g (for the 8.4-inch WiFi-only model).

Four Activity Trackers sold for every Smartwatch, according to ABI Research
Wearable device sales in the first quarter of 2014 were dominated by ‘activity trackers’, according to a new report from ABI Research.
It says these fitness-related devices outsold smartwatches by four to one.

Apple prepares for the future

Apple kicked off its 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last week with an announcement about the forthcoming iOS 8 operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. There was some catching up, some innovation and a couple of new services designed to work with home automation and health/fitness devices. What’s Tim Cook’s plan? We’ll have to wait and see.

Samsung Electronics America and the Nook Media subsidiary of Barnes & Noble have announced a partnership to develop Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablets.
The co-branded tablets will combine Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy Tab 4 hardware with customised Nook e-reader software, making it easier for users to download and read eBooks, magazines and newspapers.
