World's smallest watchphone launched

Technology company Kempler & Strauss has launched what it describes as “the world's smallest full-function GSM quad-band cell phone watch”. The W PhoneWatch looks like a conventional watch but incorporates a 1.5-inch touch-screen and uses a Bluetooth headset for phone calls. There’s also a built-in camera and an MP3 player. It’s priced at $199 (about £125); no mention of any UK distribution yet.

No glasses required for 3D viewing on mobile phones

Technology company 3M has developed an optical film that’ll allow stereoscopic 3D viewing on mobile phones and other handheld devices without the need to wear red/green or polarising glasses. Its Vikuiti film can be built into the screen’s backlight, focussing left and right images into the viewer’s eyes to generate three-dimensional graphics. The display will be demonstrated next week at the Korea Electronics Show.
