UK mobile network operator EE has launched a new retail service called ‘Connected Retail’ to help shops monitor their customers’ behaviour.
Although full details haven’t been announced, the new service is described as using mobile connectivity inside shops “to improve the customer experience and open new revenue streams”.

Vodafone has agreed to acquire Spanish broadband, phone and TV provider Ono in a deal worth £6 billion.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the autumn.

Members of the European Parliament have voted on new laws that could see a common type of charger being developed for all mobile phones sold in the EU. The vote also set out new rules for the use of radio spectrum and avoiding potential interference.
This move would cut costs and reduce waste, although it still needs to be formally approved and would then be followed by a three-year period before manufacturers were legally obliged to comply.
