Advertising complaint upheld after Lycamobile UK 'unlimited' usage claims

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint about the www.lycamobile.co.uk web site, which referred to various tariffs as offering ‘unlimited’ calls, text messages and mobile data.

Smaller print then said “Unlimited usage is subject to a fair usage of 3000 minutes/texts/MB per month per SIM. Usage in excess of your fair usage allowance will be charged at standard rates.”

Another multi-million pound investment for Shazam

America Movil, which is Latin America’s largest mobile telecom network operator, has invested $40 million in mobile music recognition and media engagement company Shazam.

The money will help accelerate Shazam’s growth as well as funding the development of new products.

ASA rules that tariff details weren't clear enough on Vodafone web site

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld complaints made about ‘pay monthly’ pricing on Vodafone UK’s web site.

Two complainants pointed out that the amount of inclusive minutes shown for a price plan was potentially misleading because every call used a minimum of one minute’s credit even if the call lasted for just a few seconds. This meant customers wouldn’t necessarily benefit from the full allowance of minutes that was being promoted.

Complaints upheld against Samsung 'trade up' offer for Galaxy Note II

The UK Advertising Standards Authority has upheld complaints against a TV advertisement and website offer for the Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone.

Both promotions encouraged customers to “Trade up now to a Galaxy Note II” with the possible reward of a free Samsung Tab 2 tablet or discounts off Samsung products.
