This week’s CES show has seen Huawei unveil what it’s described as the world’s slimmest smartphone.
The Huawei Ascend P1 S will be 6.68mm thin with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Around 2.5 million femtocells were shipped worldwide this year according to ABI Research, substantially less than the three to four million previously expected.
An increase in femtocell commercial operator contracts - a total of 88 in 2011 - had led to expectations of increased shipments.

Shipments of smartphones from China’s mobile handset makers are predicted to increase by 94% next year, according to a new report from IHS iSuppli. This year’s total of 52.2 million units will be overshadowed by a projected total of 101.4 million smartphones next year, which is nearly 10 times higher than the 2009 level of just 10.2 million units.
Although ongoing growth won’t be as dramatic, the Chinese smartphone market will continue expanding to reach 188.4 million units shipped in 2015.
