Weve launches beta version of its mobile display advertising service

Weve - the mobile marketing and mobile wallet business launched in 2011 as a joint venture by EE, O2 and Vodafone - has launched a beta version of its mobile display advertising service.

The company says this means it’s just one of a few organisations that can use verified first-party data to deliver targeted mobile display advertising.

Mobile phone coverage: is this as good as it gets?

A new report has highlighted the issue of poor mobile phone coverage in rural Sussex villages. BBC Sussex invited me onto their ‘Sussex Breakfast’ radio show to explain what could be done - and, as usual, I made enough notes for a lecture rather than a three-minute interview.

Here’s what I would have liked to have said if I’d been given a disproportionate amount of time to talk.

GSMA warns that Ofcom's proposed licence fee increase threatens 4G roll-out in the UK

Ofcom’s proposal to increase annual licence fees for the 900MHz and 1800MHz spectrum bands in the UK could adversely affect investment in the UK’s 4G services, according to the GSMA.

A consultation into the proposed increases ended on 16th January, with an Ofcom decision expected in the next few weeks.

Three UK cannot describe its network as 3.9G, says Advertising Standards Authority

Complaints against press, poster and online advertising by Three UK have been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority.

The ads referred to Three’s 3G network with DC-HSDPA technology. They described the network as ‘ultrafast’ and ‘running at what we affectionately call 3.9G’. Rival network EE said it thought the ‘3.9G’ claim was potentially misleading.
