Google acquires social navigation app Waze

Google has confirmed that it’s acquired Waze, a mobile app that helps drivers navigate while sharing information about heavy traffic and road hazards.

The Waze product development team will remain in Israel - and the separate Waze brand and community will be maintained.

Mobile and online privacy concerns follow reports about 'Prism'

The Guardian newspaper has reported that America’s National Security Agency collects the numbers and times of telephone calls made by customers of mobile network Verizon within the US and between the US and other countries.

This activity apparently began after a previously secret court order was granted on 25th April and will run until 19th July 2013. It’s unclear whether this is a one-off order or part of an ongoing series.

Much-rumoured Nexus 4 White confirmed by LG

LG Electronics has officially launched the much-rumoured white version of its Android-powered Nexus 4 smartphone, which was developed in partnership with Google.

It’ll go on sale in Hong Kong from tomorrow, followed by other markets worldwide.

Apple remains the world's most valuable brand, according to Brandz 2013 survey

The eighth annual Millward Brown Optimor BrandZ Top 100 ranking of the most valuable global brands still has Apple at the top, despite a slight drop in the total value of technology brands.

Apple’s brand value was calculated at $185 billion, just 1% up from 2012. Google retained second place but closed the gap slightly.
