Launching the BlackBerry BBM messaging and social networking application for Android and Apple iOS devices has resulted in more than 20 million new users joining the service, pushing the total number of monthly active BBM users to over 80 million people.
In fact, the Android and iPhone apps had more than 10 million downloads in the first 24 hours of their official release.

The GSMA has elected Jon Fredrik Baksaas, its previous Deputy Chairman, to serve as GSMA Chairman until the end of 2014. Mr Baksaas is also President and CEO of Telenor Group.
He’s replacing former chairman Franco Bernabè, who resigned from his GSMA role earlier this month.

Apple’s latest set of financial results show quarterly revenue up slightly year-on-year to $37.5 billion and quarterly net profit down to $7.5 billion.
It sold 33.8 million iPhones during the three-month period to the end of September, a 26% year-on-year rise resulting in a new record for this quarter.

LG Electronics has launched a new Android smartphone with a display that curves from top to bottom, following the shape of the user’s face.
It follows the announcement of Samsung’s Galaxy Round handset, which has a curve along the vertical axis. Both devices are being launched in South Korea.
