LG announces one million sales of 4G Optimus LTE smartphone

LG Electronics says it’s sold more than one million units of its Optimus LTE smartphone.

The 4G handset launched in South Korea last October and sold 600,000 units there in the first three months.

LG is the latest Android manufacturer to sign a Microsoft licensing deal

Microsoft and LG Electronics have signed a patent agreement that covers LG’s Android mobile phones and tablets under Microsoft’s patent portfolio.

It’s a wide-reaching deal that builds on an existing agreement and also covers any other LG consumer devices, including those running the Chrome OS.

Visa certifies Samsung, LG and BlackBerry devices for NFC mobile payments

Visa Inc. and Visa Europe have certified a number of NFC-enabled smartphones from Samsung, LG and Research In Motion for use with the Visa payWave contactless point of sale application. The Samsung Galaxy SII, LG Optimus NET NFC, BlackBerry Bold 9900, BlackBerry Bold 9790, BlackBerry Curve 9360 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 have all been added to the list of Visa-compliant payment products.

This means financial institutions can work with mobile operators to offer consumers one of these mobile devices with Visa mobile payment functionality.
