Having just returned from a week's holiday in a part of the country where mobile coverage was surprisingly sparse, it struck me how much mobile phones were linked to the recent English riots and looting.

The 2011 Mobile Internet Usage Report from CCS Insight has revealed that Facebook Messages, Chat and Photos are some of the most popular mobile services across Europe.

CCS Insight says Facebook is now one of the top three providers for messaging and could soon become a major destination for watching video clips.

The company describes the Vodafone 555 Blue as "the world’s first designated prepay phone specifically designed to put the Facebook experience into the heart of the handset". It's been developed in collaboration with Facebook and has been produced exclusively for Vodafone by TCL.
