A new report from Strategy Analytics shows that almost 12 billion internet-connected devices will be in use around the world by the end of this year; the equivalent of 1.7 devices for every person.
However, growth in machine-to-machine connections for the ‘Internet of Things’ is expected to result in this ratio increasing dramatically in the next six years.

UK-based communications provider Daisy Group plc has agreed a £494 million takeover bid by a consortium that consists of Toscafund Asset Management, Penta Capital and CEO Matthew Riley. Toscafund and Mr Riley already had substantial shareholdings in the company.
Daisy Group has acquired more than 20 companies since being listed on the stock exchange in 2009.

Samsung Electronics has announced two milestones in the development of 5G mobile technology.
It’s achieved 7.5Gbps (940MB per second) in a stationary environment and 1.2Gbps (150MB/second) from a vehicle travelling at over 60mph. Both are thought to be industry firsts.

EE is offering customers 100MB of mobile data every month if they buy a ‘pay as you go’ 4G smartphone or 4G tablet for Christmas.
The offer is open until 28th December 2014 for smartphone purchases and 31st January 2015 for tablets.
