Qualcomm has announced that its Snapdragon MSM7x30 chipset can now support the Russian GLONASS satellite system and the US GPS location service simultaneously. The first phone with GLONASS and GPS support will be the MTS 945 from ZTE.
Working with both satellite networks offers more accurate location information and also has a potential commercial benefit.

Microsoft and Research In Motion have announced a partnership that'll see new BlackBerry devices using Bing as the default search and map application.
It means that Bing will be the search app and map app for the new BlackBerry Playbook.

Following recent concerns about the use of location-based information on the iPhone - a topic we covered in today's podcast - Apple has published a set of questions and answers about its use of location data.
The company insists it is "not tracking the location of your iPhone" and has never done this.
