Financial Times says Nokia will stop shipping Symbian devices this year

The Financial Times has reported that Nokia is expected to stop shipping Symbian smartphones this summer, although it doesn’t expect the company to make a formal announcement.

Nokia chose Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS as its main smartphone platform in 2011 but has committed to providing support for Symbian until 2016.

Samsung Electronics has introduced yet another model to the Galaxy S4 smartphone family.

This one’s called the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom and has a 16 megapixel camera sensor with a 10x optical zoom lens, along with image stabilisation and a xenon flash.

Google has confirmed that it’s acquired Waze, a mobile app that helps drivers navigate while sharing information about heavy traffic and road hazards.

The Waze product development team will remain in Israel - and the separate Waze brand and community will be maintained.

Santander UK and mobile payment company iZettle have announced a UK partnership agreement aimed at self‑employed professionals and small businesses.

Santander Business Banking is offering customers a mobile payment package that includes iZettle’s Chip & PIN reader, which can be used with Apple and Android devices.
