Telefónica recently announced a new security application that enables consumers to ‘switch off’ their social networks, online banking and other digital services when they’re not being used.
It’s called Latch and has been developed by internet security company Eleven Paths, which is part of Telefónica Digital.

Samsung Electronics has created a gaming controller for its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The Smartphone GamePad connects via Bluetooth and will work with most Galaxy devices with a 4-inch to 6.3-inch screen running Android v4.1 or above. It has a rechargeable battery, a steel frame and a grip to hold the mobile device in place.

It's our last podcast of the year, which is the traditional time for us to predict what'll be happening in the mobile phone industry during the next 12 months... from forthcoming consumer technology to deals between network operators.
As well as making our 2014 predictions, we'll also be reviewing those we made last year and discovering how accurate our forecasts for 2013 really were.

LG has announced a special ‘Google Play’ version of its G Pad 8.3 tablet, which it says will be the first device to be designated a Google Play Edition tablet.
This means it’ll run a ‘clean’ version of Android rather than having LG’s own user interface on top.

Photo sharing service Instagram, which was acquired by Facebook last year, has launched a photo and video messaging feature called Instagram Direct.
This new feature forms part of the standard Instagram app.
