More mobile networks enabling carrier billing for applications and content

Orange customers in the UK will soon be able to pay for content purchased on their Window Phone devices by adding the charge to their mobile phone account. It means they won't need to give their bank information when opening a Microsoft account to buy music, games or apps.

The news comes a week after Research In Motion and Telefonica announced they were working together to introduce integrated carrier billing to BlackBerry App World.

Microsoft has released the first update for its Windows Phone platform.

However, this isn't adding the much-anticipated 'copy and paste' feature but is a smaller update designed to improve the software update process itself.

Last.fm to make mobile listening a subscription-only service for most UK users

Online music service Last.fm is introducing a subscription charge for listening to its 'Last.fm Radio' streaming music service on most UK mobile phones, including Android and iPhone devices.

Mobile scrobbling - automatically logging the music you play - will remain free, as will access to recommendations and forums.

Windows Phone 7 phantom data culprit confirmed as Yahoo! Mail

Microsoft has confirmed that the 'phantom data' problem affecting a small percentage of Windows Phone 7 customers is being caused by Yahoo! Mail.

The company, which recommends adjusting email settings on the phone to reduce the amount of data used, says a Microsoft/Yahoo fix will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
